The general process for ISO Certification i.e Management system certification

Implement the Management System (QMS/EMS/OHSMS/OHSAS/FSMS/ISMS) in the organization – apply to certification body for ISO certification in India and provide the necessary information about the organization – Name of Organization, certification required, Scope of certification, Number of Employees, and the process involved, etc.

After receipt of information from applicant organization the CAB – conduct the Application review to find-out the Audit Mandays required for ISO certification and Audit Team competency required. After Evaluation of Audit Mandays, Audit team Selection, and Tentative date of onsite Audit. The CAB sends the information to the Applicant organization for acceptance of Audit Team & onsite Audit date. After receipt of consent from the Applicant organization, the CAB plans for onsite Audit.

Initial certification the Audit is carried out in two-stage- Stage-1 Audit & Stage-2 Audit.

ISO Certification Stage-1 Audit

Stage-1 Audit is a document review Audit shall be conducted at the Client site to verify the preparedness of Stage-2 Audit. After the Stage-1 Audit the Audit team Leader – either Recommend the Client Management System for Stage-2 Audit or Decline the Recommendations for Stage -2 Audits. In case of Recommendation for Stage-2 Audit – the CAB shall re-send the Audit plan and schedule for Stage-2 Audit to Client organization for acceptance. In case of Decline of Recommendation of Stage-2 Audit (After Stage-1 Audit) – The Client organization need to further take the corrective & preventive action of Audit findings and after the Implementation of CAPA the client organization further contact certification body to carry out the Stage-1 Audit.

ISO Certification Stage-2 Audit

The Stage-2 Audit is conducted at the client site to verify the compliance implemented management system. The Stage-2 Audit is full certification Audit – during the Audit, the Audit team shall verify the entire management system and its compliance. After the completion of Audit, the Audit team leader may recommend the Client’s Management System for QMS/EMS/OHSMS/OHSAS/FSMS/ISMS Certification or Decline the Recommendations for ISO certification. The decision of recommendations for certification shall be made based on Audit findings & conclusion.

After the Recommendation of QMS/EMS/OHSMS/OHSAS/FSMS/ISMS certification, the Audit Team Leader shall submit the Audit report to CAB for Review of Client Audit File.

The review of the Audit file shall be carried out by an independent competent person, those who are not involved in Onsite Audit of Same Client organization. After the review of the Audit file – the ISO certification decision shall be made by CAB for the Issue of certificate or not to issue the certificate.

The same process shall be followed during the annual Surveillance Audit and Re-certification Audit.

  • Scope of Certification
  • Process Involve in the Organization.
  • Number of working shift
  • Number of Sites of the organization

As explain above the Management system Certification procedure is same as Management system Certification process, but in short summary of the certification procedure are:-

How To Get ISO Certification

After the implementation of the Management system conduct the Internal Audit of the complete process and function of the organization covered in an implemented Management system. Close all the non-conformity found during Internal Audit by taking appropriate Corrective /preventive action. Conduct the Management review meeting. After conducting Internal Audit and Management review meeting apply to certification body for Management system Certification.

The certification body will conduct the Audit and based on Audit finding & conclusions – the CAB shall issue the certificate for the management System if the implemented management system is found to complying the requirements
